– For music teachers and academic tutors –
You were taught how to teach.
Nobody taught you how to run a business.
I went from 8 piano students to 60+, not by being a better teacher, but by learning how to market myself properly. Now I help music teachers and academic tutors do the same.
Does this sound familiar?
Brilliant at teaching.
Stuck on the business.
Most music teachers and tutors are excellent at what they do and completely lost when it comes to finding students consistently.
Not because they are bad at business, but because nobody ever taught them how to run one.
I often see posts like this…
I’ve been teaching for 8 years and still rely entirely on word of mouth. Every summer I panic about whether I’ll have enough students in September. Nobody ever taught me how to market myself.
This is not an unusual situation.
It is the normal situation for teachers who were trained to teach but never trained to build a business.
- You rely entirely on word of mouth and dread the summer drop-off
- You have tried posting on social media and got almost no response
- You have wasted money on advertising that generated nothing
- You know you should raise your rates but are scared students will leave
- You feel like you are one cancellation away from a difficult month
- You give 25% of every lesson to a platform you do not fully trust
- You have been at the same number of students for over a year
- The business side feels overwhelming, alien, and like someone else’s problem
I built what you are trying to build.
I know how it works.
ABOUT MARTYN
I am a jazz pianist and piano teacher based in London. I studied at the University of Bristol, moved to Moscow to teach English and study jazz, then completed a Masters in Jazz Piano at Western Michigan University, where I performed at the International Association for Jazz Education in Toronto.
I now teach 60+ students a week privately from my home in London and at several independent schools.
One of my pupils reached the semi-final of Britain’s Got Talent in 2017.
It took me years of testing — flyers, posters, Google Ads, Facebook Ads, funnels and copywriting, to figure out what actually works.
I made every expensive mistake along the way. Now I teach music teachers and academic tutors how to skip that process and build their student numbers faster, with less wasted money and more confidence.

What we cover
Everything you need.
Nothing you do not.
Whether you are a piano teacher wanting a full studio or an academic tutor tired of platform dependence, the same core skills drive the result.
Here is what I help you build.
01
Finding Students: Online & Offline
The complete picture, from flyers and local strategies that still work brilliantly, to Facebook Ads, Google Ads and YouTube Ads that generate enquiries on autopilot.
02
Direct Response Marketing & Copywriting
The single skill that separates teachers who fill their calendars from the ones who do not. Not generic marketing advice, just specific frameworks for writing ads, emails and landing pages that make the right parents and students contact you.
03
Simple Funnels That Work
You do not need a complex funnel. You need one that works. I show you how to build a straightforward system that takes someone from seeing your ad to booking a lesson, without you having to chase every enquiry manually.
04
Pricing With Confidence
How to raise your rates without losing students, how to price based on value rather than fear, and how to stop competing on price with every other tutor in your area. This module alone usually pays for everything else.
05
Income Protection & Student Retention
Cancellation policies, term structures, student onboarding systems, and how to keep students coming back long-term. Because getting students is only half the job. Keeping them is the other half.
06
Breaking Platform Dependence
For academic tutors: how to stop giving a % of every lesson to agencies and build your own direct client pipeline that you own completely and that no algorithm can take away from you.
What people say
I had coaching with Martyn where he pointed out which aspects of my marketing needed improvement and which were more established. If you’re really serious about growing your teaching business, Martyn is the guy to get advice from.
I’m really glad my friend directed me to his website, as his knowledge on the field is huge!
After implementing his advice, I gained around 22 students for myself plus 3 groups. I have decided to stop accepting students for myself just because I don’t have slots to offer anymore.
Hi Martyn. Thanks a lot for the valuable information you shared with us last week. I am very impressed by your knowledge and experience in the real world of marketing a music teaching business.
Even though I’ve done years of research on SEO and marketing, you gave me some excellent insights and ideas that have already helped create more business for not only my Los Angeles Music Teachers school, but also my Rossi Music Live Event Bands connections.
Well worth the money!
How it works
Three steps to a teaching business that grows
1) Book your FREE call
A free 30-minute conversation where I listen to where you are, what you have already tried, and what is getting in the way. No pitch. No agenda. Just an honest conversation to understand your situation..
2) Get a clear plan
Based on that conversation, I tell you exactly what I would do if I were in your position, which channels to use, what to say, what to stop doing, and what to prioritise first. You leave with clarity regardless of what happens next.
3) Build and grow
If you want to go further, I offer group coaching and one-to-one support to implement the plan together. If you just needed the conversation, that is fine too. Either way you leave in a better position than you arrived.
