Wedding @ Penshurst Place

Martyn was asked to play at Misha & Jamie’s wedding ceremony and drinks reception at Penshurst Place.
For the ceremony Misha requested to walk down the aisle to Aqueous Transmission by Incubus (an unusual choice!) She informed Martyn that the signing would take a while, and therefore chose to hear 3 pieces: Too much by Sampha, Your Song by Elton John and Sam Smith’s Stay with me. For the exit, Misha opted for Can you feel the love tonight by Elton John (from the ‘Lion King’).
There was no piano at the venue, so Martyn brought his stage piano to perform throughout the ceremony. After the wedding exit, Martyn quickly took his equipment downstairs and set up to play for the drinks reception outside in the courtyard.
Here’s a selection of songs Misha requested to hear for this part of the wedding. Martyn learnt and played all of them, as well as some other pop songs and jazz standards.
- Clocks – Coldplay
- Falling – Alicia Key
- Sky full of stars – Coldplay
- Summertime sadness – Lana del Ray
- Chandelier – Sia
- Counting stars – One Republic
- Rude – Magic!
- Crazy – Gnarles Barkley
- In the end – Linkin Park
- Bring me to life – Evanescence
- Someone like you – Adele
- Don’t let the sun go down on me – Elton John
- Isn’t she lovely – Stevie Wonder
